Written while I was singing in the Marsh Chapel Choir at Boston University, this organ work is based on the wonderful “Schmücke Dich” hymn, and works very well after the hymn has been sung by the congregation. The work presents the tune in various ways in the beginning, and works its way up to a triumphant presentation at the end.
The first performance took place on March 20, 1993, at Marsh Chapel, Boston, MA.
